Stocking Up on Swimwear

Posted on Feb 29, 2008 at 11:07:00 PM | Comments (0)

It snowed today, and I don't care! I'm a devil-may-care girl when it comes to seasonal shopping, and I love to stock up so I'm all ready to go. Plus, I have an even better excuse: I can just use spring break as an excuse to pick up a few extras this month.

Do you have the same lust for shopping deals on swimsuits, but have a few fit questions, too? I'm here to help you, since I've been shopping enough to get the fit details on suits down pat!

V272441
Metallic Logo Sliding Bikini, $34 (top) and $34 (bottom)

This suit allows for size adjustments while you're wearing it.

Size Essentials: Do not go by the number on the suit. Always check the measurement for the size details. If your suit is too tight and small, it won't be sexy at all! All it will do is create bulges and make you look larger than you really are. I have a feeling that you don't want that!

Y504004
Ruched Ruffle Swimsuit, $32.00

This tankini-style suit is a little more modest and might work well for your lifestyle. You won't need to compromise on cuteness, either.

Check the Cut: The shape of your swimsuit is ultra-essential. Before you choose that dare-to-bare suit, consider the grooming maintenance (ahem) required, as well as how much you'd like to show off. Even if you get the best deal on a string bikini, it's not great if you never wear it!

Y505016
Bubble Bath Bikini, $49.99

This halter swimsuit will keep things in their place.

Move: Find a bikini that you already have in a similar shape and give it for a test drive. Aim on activity-specific motions. If you'll be lying on the beach, try the "sunning yourself" pose, getting back up, flipping, and crouching as if to grab something for your purse. If you're a swimmer, try faux swim kicks to make sure everything stays where it should.

V272488
Palm Tree Bikini, $29 (top) and $20 (bottoms)

Aim for a fully-lined suit.

Consider the Color: I never really consider this until one bad experience with a swimsuit. I chose a brightly colored pair of bikini bottoms and was thrilled about wearing them, until I got them and realized two important things: they were made of microfiber and were unlined! Definitely not the bottoms I was looking to wear for swimming and things.
