6 Items You Should Think Twice About Buying
Since I tell you so much about what you need to buy, I thought I would go in the opposite direction and tell you want you shouldn't! There are some items that simply shouldn't be touched if you don't have a big budget, and I list some of the biggest offenders here.
Pieces You Will Grow Into: Don't say that your workout routine is going to pay off in spades, because then you won't be able to enjoy your new picks! Look for items that are adjustable to allow for weight loss, like a wrap dress, a tie-waist tunic, or a smock-waist tank.
Overly Trendy Items: People usually say that you should buy them cheap, but why buy them at all of you're going to ditch them soon enough? Try my technique instead to save while enjoyingtrends in a new way: take a look at trendy colors you love for the season, and then buy an item in the color you love! It will remind people of popular trends, but when it's all said and done, you can wear this item again and again because of it's classic shape. This works best for accessories and jewelry, but you can also try it with tees, dresses, and more.
Seasonal Purses: One of my biggest mistakes is buying a purse that is strictly for a certain seasonal, like a straw purses for summer and a heavy black, suede purse for winter. No! You should look for all-season, all-weather items that are impossible to do wrong, like a medium-brown purse with a little bit of shine to the leather. This one is a purse you can use for ages!
Expensive Accessories (if you're forgetful): No way! This is a huge mistake, because the probability of someone heading off with your amazing headband, your cool hair clip, your awesome little clip that does something one adore to you jeans. Sigh! Honestly, how many times will you wear that piece you love until it goes missing? Make a cap on your accessories purchases according to your budget, like $25, $50, or $75. Looking for discounts is a good way to buy more than what you can usually afford--I like Overstock.com for simple discount hunting.
Gimmick-y Items: Be honest. How many times have you found an item on TV or online that seems too cool to be true? It probably is, so don't buy it! If you must buy an items that's sold on TV, check out eBay at first and make sure that you can't get it for cheaper.
