Spring Must-Haves
Are you looking for new fall picks? I'd love to get everything I've seen up on the pages of my favorite fashion weeks now that the fashion weeks have slipped by, but neither my budget nor my frugal sensibility allows for much wiggle room. Here are my top buys for spring, and where to get them.
Flirty Skirt: Depending on your body type, you can go for shorter versions, or you can aim for skirts that are constructed from a lighter fabric, but that are a little longer for more coverage. A great pick would be a cotton skirt from Old Navy, complete with a drawstring waist to allow the best "adjustability," and a pair of low wedges. If you're stumped on a print, select a simple one that combines one dark and one light color, like navy blue and white, together.
Tip: Pick up one must-have skirt now to avoid the rush, and then hold off until the mid-season sales kick off when summer pieces come rolling in.
Nude Wedge Heels: Nude heels can be very challenging. While they look amazing when they are on your feet, you can't help but think that these shoes look a little less than sexy when they are off. To help determine what shoes make your legs look best, check out pictures in which you wear shoes in colors you are considering to purchase. Nude might be the right pick for you after all.
Tip: Don't forget that Zappos.com has free shipping both ways, so returning's a breeze.
Boyfriend Shirt: A simple button-down, striped shirt can be layered over a floral-printed tank top if you'd like, but it can also be a smart selection when you crave a lightweight layer after a weekend in the sun. For a boyish-but-cute look, pair your button-down shirt with a pair of denim cutoffs, and for something a little more daring, try tying it up when paired with a high-waist, flirty skirt.
Tip: Wear your striped shirt with a chunky jeweled necklace.
