To the Park!

The weather has started getting gorgeous-- and that means it's park time! If you are looking for some cute things to wear, perhaps you might want to take a peek at what I've picked up lately for my park excursions. Some of my selections are more tough-and-tumble-- that's only because I take my dog to the park as much as I can.

Old Navy: Simple Shift

I usually try to wear jeans or shorts when I hit the park, but when I don't have my dog and I'm doing a sort of date thing, I prefer to go with a dress instead. Old Navy has some great options available right now, and many can double as cute cover-ups for the beach. If you have trouble with Old Navy items being too short, order a tall instead! I always do that, and everything ends up being just the right length for me.

Top Pick: Hooded Jersey Cover-Up

Piperlime: Leather Sandals

I love browsing at Piperlime. Not only are their selections really sweet, but they have some great deals if you keep going back. Right now, I'm in the mood to start stocking up for brown leather sandals with flat soles, which are an active-minded and stylish solution for spring. What do you think of my picks?

Top Pick: Ciao Bella Kaitlynn

eBags: Hefty Satchel

Let's see... there's sunscreen, there's a leash and baggies, there's snack stuff and possibly a blanket for the park... we have a lot of stuff to pack away for a cool trip to the park. Try eBags for a tote or satchel (which you can definitely take more places than the park), and you'll be surprised at the savings you'll find. Coupon Winner participates with eBags and has several excellent deals available right now.

Top Pick: Big Buddha Tote

Saks Fifth Avenue: Goodies!

Believe it or not, Saks has some fantastic deals out there, like a gift card offer with a purchase of a certain amount, and free ties for guys with a specific order amount. Saks is amazing for ordering plus sizes, and a lot of their options are very sophisticated. In areas where the park is a true social experience (New York, anyone?), a Saks dress and a pair of ballerina-style shoes will work perfectly.

Top Pick: Stone Necklace Silk Tank

Fashion Bug: Sweats
Going to the park to have a run or do some yoga/stretching? You might want to try Fashion Bug's active apparel section, which is affordable and comfortable. I have a thing for their capri sweats, which are perfect to wear at home, but you might want to have a look at their hoodie and shell options.

Top Pick: Dip Dye Active Tank

Eco Fashion Focus

Eco-Friendliness is amazing these days. . . from reusable grocery bags to hemp shoes, we're getting treated to all sorts of surprises. Isn't it different from a few years ago, when we were hunting down expensive pieces that didn't really meet our budget-friendly criteria? Now with a few coupons in hand and the right outlook, green fashion is as affordable as it is accessible. It's about time.

This time around, I focused on Shopbop.com. They are extremely easy to navigate, with lots of eco picks, and they are often having sales. While their selection was lengthy, I did notice that brand choice itself wasn't particularly varied, but that just makes it look like the pieces have been edited down for you. Think of it as a style capsule, and you are on your way.

I decided to pair these two together because they are just so sweet. Marc Jacobs' unassuming little cartoon character will charm its way into every woman's heart, and that blue dress really does prove that earth-friendly pieces can be glamorous, too! With just a single shoulder strap, hopefully you'll have people ask you about your choice, and you can tell them that it is totally green!

A pick of three will keep you looking good on casual days when you still feel the need to accessorize, and accessorize well. This hammered-look ring is eye-catching and surprisingly delicate, and will look great year-round. I'd love to see it worn with a tube top or tank for a great little style boost that really highlights your fabulous new piece of jewelry.

These Toepaz Hemp Flats are my dream shoes, because they are as sexy as they are good for the planet. Flats with a lower side that display your ankles or tops of feet are dashing and daring, and you simply can't forget about the cool comfort of a flat when you've spent your life in heels.

Isn't this tube top just divine? I think I'm in love. This top can go with your bermudas, your jeans, your sailor pants, and your cool new skirts, so that means it's a versatile top with lots of cost-per-wear potential. If you're hunting for something a little more on the avant-garde side, this is your pick!

Organic Finds for the Eco-Girl

Have you seen all the new eco-friendly pieces this season? I'm amazed at how many selections we have to choose from right now that incorporate alternative fabrics and processing methods. It's very exciting, and the best news of all is that these amazing finds don't have that weird shapeless look that a lot of green pieces used to have. Do you remember when everything looked wormy and gray and/or purple, and was sort of like a muumuu? Those days are over!

Sahalie Organic is pretty new to me, and their pieces aren't to be missed. They are a little on the crunchy side, so it might take you a pass or two to find the best pieces, I promise that they are there. Case in point: I rustled up the Sundancer Skirt in Organic Cotton, which is available in a kind of loden green. It reminds me of a skirt that my girlfriend bought back in college from Free People that was priced much higher than Sahalie's $34.95. If green isn't your thing, then I recommend the heathered purple, or river blur or even "dirt." (I probably would have named that one something different myself.)

I'm not sure if I could pull off this cap myself, but I can name at least a half dozen people who can. The color will flatter any color eyes and make them look brighter, and casual caps with style can be really difficult to comeby. If you're the type of person who is intimidated by casual headgear, this is a great way to ease into it. You can wear this cap with a super sexy shirt for going out to a bar or something similar, or you can choose to wear it with a slouchy, artistic tank for a more relaxed vibe. It'll look good either way! Try it out in cream, olive, or orange.

Eco sneakers are a new world for me, and as someone who grew up in a pretty liberal, hippie-ish environment, that's saying a whole lot! Simple Shoes has caught my eye, especially because they're broken free of that tired Chuck-wannabe sneaker look. These Help Carousel Flats even carry the tagline "You care about the planet but you don't want to look like a hippie. Got it." I mean, did they read my mind or what?

You can find these awesome flats in a bevy of other colors and prints, in similar styles. I'm a big fan of the Women's Macaroon Flats in a light blue, which feature a pretty gorgeous set of double straps and button details. Yummy!
