Gap Scoops Up New Designers for Campaign

It's come time for Gap to revitalize! As a major Gap fan, I've always loved their simple basics and plus-sized jeans, but some of their newer collections had pieces that were too trendy for me. Now we're back to basics again with Gap-but with the addition of three exciting new designers.

While Gap is still fighting to stay on top, this exclusive edition looks promising. The inclusion of fresh talent means that all of us can still find our wardrobe builders, but they won't be boring and each one will have an individual, unique look.

Industry news spilled a while back that Gap has secured these designers to rework the white t-shirt: Doo.Ri, Rodarte, and Thakoon, who will rework classic pieces for a new look. Here are mini designer profiles so we can get up to speed:

Doo.Ri
Doo.Ri's work has been described as uncomplicated and pleasing, and her pieces translate beautifully to Gap's look. She adds small individual touches to each of her designs to make each piece very, very unique. Her separates are smart, but they each have an interesting touch that makes them special.

Rodarte
Named after Kate and Laura Mulleavy's mother's maiden name, the Rodarte label has grown significantly since its launch in 2005. These designers made their way to NY from California and were quickly snapped up by fashion buyers. Their pieces have more of a traditional couture feel, which will work for Gap's evening-inspired pieces.

Thakoon
Thakoon can rework simple colors and shapes and make something very drool-worthy. Born in Thailand but raised in Omaha, Thakoon debuted his first collection at the age of 29 and now gears up for growing runway events every season. Thakoon rounds out the group of Gap's designers with Asian-inspired, floaty pieces as well as funky urbanwear.

You can find the Gap Design Edition here at www.gap.com/browse/category.do?cid=35623&mlink=35579,718070,4&clink=718070, and hurry! My personal favorite was the Belted Shirt Dress by Doo.Ri, which has a classic, slightly '50s shape and a tie waist. Plus sized shoppers will be glad to know that sizes go up to XXL.

Everything looks like it's selling out fast, so if you need a few white shirts and dresses with some punch (and under $100), make your way to the Gap. Check out the small but exclusive collection soon!
