Petite Styles for You-- and How to Wear Them
Petite fashion? I might not be the smallest, but I've helped my sister pick out enough clothes to know the ropes! In a world of standard sizing, it can be frustrating to look for pieces that work well for your shape. When do you do find them, you never want to give them up.
My advice? Try these tips and when you find something you love, buy multiples. ;)

(Lace Trimmed Camisole, $39.00)
Trim your waistline to avoid bulk.
You'll look much taller if you decrease the horizontal baggage. From thick pockets to waist-tied shirts, anything extra should be avoided. Look for tops that skim along your midsection, and take advantage of an hourglass shape with a silky top if you can. This selected top from Petite Sophisticate is available in several soft colors.

(Petite Martin Cotton Textured Trousers)
Check your trouser length.
Avoid swimming in your longer trousers, especially if yours have a tendency to head over your toes and stick there. If even some of your petite trousers are too long, don't fret. Making friends with a great tailor is a fantastic and affordable option to fix trousers that are *almost* perfect.

(Sateen Stretch Front Pants and Petite Spot Jumpershirt)
Consider close to monochromatic.
Monochromatic will add strength to your vertical silhouette (yes, please!) While I've chosen an all-black look accented with the cutest polka-dotted top ever, you could look for an equally monochromatic style in navy or even gray. Aim for a darker gray to look thinner without looking shorter.

(Guess by Marciano Carrie8)
Aim for a gently pointed toe if possible.
If you want to elongate your frame, you can stick to something that extends past the leg and keeps the eye traveling onwards. Avoid shoes like rounded-toe mary janes-- they can add roundness and shortness to a well thought-out outfit. Think of them as icing on the cake if you can.

(Lumiana Siena)
Stay away from t-strap heels due to their widening effect.
Just as with round-toe shoes, steer clear of t-strap shoes or ones that lace up the leg. While they're both tempting and practical options, you'll be happier with the results you get from open toes, peep toes, and outrageously arching heels.
