Winter Skin And Skincare Accessories
There's nothing worse than having your winter wardrobe completely set (until next season, that is...) and then realizing than while your clothes are fabulous, your skin is not.
Here are some tips on keeps your skin smooth and soft no matter what:
1.Keep your moisturizer as thick as can be.
Just because we've gotten over a winter slump or we're in a warm patch, that doesn't mean that your skin agrees. Moisturizers protect your skin from elements including the dry air circulating around the office and your home. Try an ointment to really protect your skin, and use mild soaps so you don't strip your skin of its natural oils.
Recommended products:
*Soak It In Super Rich Moisture Cream ($16): A minty antioxidant cream with Vitamin C & E
*Kiss My Face Olive and Aloe Moisturizer ($4): It will calm your skin quickly.
2.Keep the cracks at bay.
If your fingers crack or get very sensitive, I would try a super-deep conditioning glove kit. Put them on when you're watching TV, reading, or sleeping to get your hands back in condition, and fast! Try my tip: before putting on deep conditioning gloves, add an extra layer of Vaseline before putting on your gloves.
Recommended products:
*Vaseline: In a pinch, Vaseline is perfect for moisturizing cracks and scaly patches.
*Conditioning gloves from SpaSensials: $12 and worth it!
3.Review your regimen.
If you like treating yourself to microdermabrasion sessions, avoid them in the deepest of winter, because the new skin underneath won't be able to cope with the shock of exposure!
Stocking up on any of these goodies to keep your skin supple for the winter means that you'll need a place to store everything... a perfect opportunity for a new makeup bag to hold all your toiletries. As a purse lover, it's an excuse to do a little extra shopping, and for the organized, well, it's an essential.
My favorite? The Stephanie Johnson Lucy Velcro Tab Bag is a cheery little bag with an ingenious design to help you store all your winter skincare essentials without trouble. It has lots of pockets, including a nice flat pocket to fit a little wintertime bronzer, and a clear central pouch for easy viewing of what you've got inside. Look for your favorite cosmetic bag on Ebay, Amazon, or Beauty.com.
