Summer Swimwear Selections

I love shopping for swimwear for a couple of reasons. One is that you can never have enough, and another is that you can pack tons of them in one vacation carry-on and always wear something new. You can layer them under tank tops to add color and pizazz and switch up your look a little. String bikinis look awesome underneath racerback tops and sundresses, while halter suits can look great underneath coordinating halter tops paired with shades.

My top selections are bright, cool, and fun, which can be great for beach browsing, for boardwalk shopping, and for frolicking in the waves. Check out what I have chosen for top swimwear pieces of the season, and let me know what you think!

Y503003horz

(YumDrop Preppy Striped Bikini)
This softly striped bikini is a perfect preppy piece. I love YumDrop because the pieces are super feminine, soft, and fun, which means that they'll look amazing with shorter ruffled skirts in chiffon or silk. Imagine how comfortable this skirt will be post-swim, and how easy it will be to stow away in your beach sack.

Prodimagems

(BCBG Maxazria Blue Paisley Ruffle Halter Top)
This is quite the sophisticated halter, and I can imagine it with jeans and clogs, '70s style. These ruffles, when paired with such a sophisticated color palette, don't seem as full-blown cutesy. Instead, it seems like the added ruffles are just a fantastic design detail addition.

(Solid Bandeau Monokini)
A monokini in blue is stunning without patterns and excess design. Let your skin peeking through do all the talking! What I especially love about this piece is the fact that you can slip a pair of shorty shorts over the one-piece and still feature a complicated silhouette that peeks out from underneath.

Y501006

(Multi Polka Dot Bikini)
The bottoms on these briefs are so cool. I love how they stretch down over your hips a little (they remind me of my yoga pants) and have a slightly more modest vibe. These awesome halter top cups have impressive uplift and will make you look very voluptuous, very sexy, and very curvaceous. Pink peppermint ice cream, anyone?

On52718406p01v01
(Old Navy Women's Halter Top in Blue Kaleidoscope) This top combines color and pattern in a burst of cool design. You'll be pleased at how affordable it is (just $9.99), so I recommend you spend a little down time stocking up on a couple if you can. You can also choose between string or bikini briefs to coordinate. The plunging neckline is totally come-hither and is available up to XXL.

Stocking Up on Swimwear

It snowed today, and I don't care! I'm a devil-may-care girl when it comes to seasonal shopping, and I love to stock up so I'm all ready to go. Plus, I have an even better excuse: I can just use spring break as an excuse to pick up a few extras this month.

Do you have the same lust for shopping deals on swimsuits, but have a few fit questions, too? I'm here to help you, since I've been shopping enough to get the fit details on suits down pat!

V272441
Metallic Logo Sliding Bikini, $34 (top) and $34 (bottom)

This suit allows for size adjustments while you're wearing it.

Size Essentials: Do not go by the number on the suit. Always check the measurement for the size details. If your suit is too tight and small, it won't be sexy at all! All it will do is create bulges and make you look larger than you really are. I have a feeling that you don't want that!

Y504004
Ruched Ruffle Swimsuit, $32.00

This tankini-style suit is a little more modest and might work well for your lifestyle. You won't need to compromise on cuteness, either.

Check the Cut: The shape of your swimsuit is ultra-essential. Before you choose that dare-to-bare suit, consider the grooming maintenance (ahem) required, as well as how much you'd like to show off. Even if you get the best deal on a string bikini, it's not great if you never wear it!

Y505016
Bubble Bath Bikini, $49.99

This halter swimsuit will keep things in their place.

Move: Find a bikini that you already have in a similar shape and give it for a test drive. Aim on activity-specific motions. If you'll be lying on the beach, try the "sunning yourself" pose, getting back up, flipping, and crouching as if to grab something for your purse. If you're a swimmer, try faux swim kicks to make sure everything stays where it should.

V272488
Palm Tree Bikini, $29 (top) and $20 (bottoms)

Aim for a fully-lined suit.

Consider the Color: I never really consider this until one bad experience with a swimsuit. I chose a brightly colored pair of bikini bottoms and was thrilled about wearing them, until I got them and realized two important things: they were made of microfiber and were unlined! Definitely not the bottoms I was looking to wear for swimming and things.

Stop Sweating Swimsuit Season

Like most, the desire to be swimsuit ready for summer causes more than sheer anxiety, it causes back-breaking crunches and sweaty workout almost every night in the week. But yet, they are many ways to get that ever so smooth and slender bathing suit physique without hitting the floor. So if crunches make you sick than I have just the prescription for you.

There are many different remedies that will drop inches off your waist and slim down that tummy to get you ready for a sexy two-piece in no time. Instead of trying to sweat and work it off try a few of these simple daily life routines and watch your bikini body come to a new life in a hour glass figure.

The first step is to simply calm down. It’s summer time to sip some lemonade and unwind. And as soon as you take this suggestion to law, the sooner you will notice a thinner middle. When we take a minute to distress ourselves we decrease our levels of cortisol, which is a fat causing hormone. By adding a simple 5-10 minute stress reducer you can shed those unwanted fat cell on your mid section.

Although I know it is hot, and those cool and refreshing mojitos and margaritas seem truly satisfying, but they are also loaded with empty calories that show up on your tummy and keep you from sporting that great swimsuit you have your eyes on. Therefore, skip the alcohol because it is loaded with carbs and salt. Just the same, kick the soda cans as well. Filled with sugar and like the alcohol, both of these items not only produce fat, but they retain water and cause bloating. The salt and sugar in these particular drinks cause you to hold on to waste and water, making you not only feel sluggish, but look the same. So to combat the bloating, drink plenty of water. And I mean, lots and lots of water. The addition of water to your diet will flush out your body and keep you from being not only dehydrated, but regular and free of bloating. Not to mention, drinking the proper amount water gives your body and skin a healthy glow. One that will definitely show off a killer suit.

Your mother says it best “Did you get enough fiber?” Well, today you can finally say, “Yes Mom, I have.” Because eating enough fiber is a necessity in molding that stomach of jello into a chiseled washboard set of pure abdominals. By eating fiber you are keeping yourself from being by holding on to bad weight along with preventing constipation. The good thing about fiber is that it feels you up, therefore, you eat less and you are naturally restricting your calorie intake. So, fill up on whole grains, fruits and vegetables and watch your waistline get slimmer as your appetite almost disappears.

The best way to get a great, sexy, summer stomach is by of course having a trainer. No, not a physical trainer, but a tummy muscle trainer. Train your stomach muscles to get flat on their own by holding your stomach muscles in towards your spine. Do this all day, everyday—the more you do it, the more natural it will become. Pretty soon you would have trained your stomach and yourself to do it naturally giving off an ultra flat mid section physique. If it is hard for you at first, try opting for a girdle to help hold it in until you can hold it yourself. And lastly, just like Mom always says, “Hold your back up straight!” Yes, yes, there was something to this. By exercising good posture you will look at least five pounds thinner, possess flatter abs, that are easier to hold in with a straight back. So kudos to those of you with perfect posture, you’re well on your way to a great midriff and a great summer shape.

Consider the Unexpected: Styles to Revamp Your Summer Look

Okay. I admit it. Triangle tops can look just perfect on some of us, but there are a lot of other swimsuit styles to try this season. My favorite this season is the one-piece suit, so review those options before you commit to your regular bikini.

Branch out with some of these ideas for your one-piece summer swimsuit:

One Pieces
I've seen some incredible swimsuits this summer, and a lot of them have been one-piece suits. Deep v-necks, open backs, and higher cut legs mean that you suit doesn't have to be the modest type. And if you do want a simple suit with extra coverage, you definitely be able to find it in a one-piece.

Wear a one-piece if you have the following shape:
*A square shape without much of a waist. Find a suit with piping, buttons, or princess seams to fake curves.
*If you have a long torso, find a one-piece suit with higher cut legs to emphasize the length.
*Shorter-legged women can lengthen legs with high cut brief style bottoms.

My Top Picks for One Pieces:
Delias's Gingham One-Piece Bandeau, $33.50 on sale
I love the open back on the Delia's One-PIece Bandeau, which is a perfect option when you want to show a little skin. Choose from a fresh green or a more subdued black.

DKNY Adjustable Side Ruched One-Piece, $69
Choose this flirty suit in navy. It has an adjustable leg, so you can alter the fit to flatter your hips and thighs easily. The back is quite high, which is perfect for those of us who'd like to conceal any extra back baggage like rolls or bumps.

Newport News Halter Suit, $19 on sale
Rich chocolate brown makes you look doubly tan, so if you skimp on self tanner, you can still look just right on shore.

Swimsuits for All Mother of Pearl Suit, $39
This swimsuit with a deep, deep v is available in black and brown, and a halter top will flatter busts while providing extra support. The mother of pearl disc, located between the two soft cups, adds an oceanic element to an otherwise plain suit. Simple design details can add so much to a one-piece swimsuit.

Top Swimsuits to Buy for the Season

Having trouble finding a swimsuit? Don't base your choices on price! The more expensive suits are guaranteed to be the most flattering, as I've learned from personal experience. I've been able to find some very impressive pieces at rock-bottom prices to flatter any body type. Shop around, and don't give up! Despite the fact that March seems to be when everyone buys their swimsuits, there are still plenty to choose from this April and May.

Tankinis
Tankinis are perfect for flattering your shape in a two-piece look. This tankini top from Eddie Bauer has halter straps to lift your bust and keep things in place. Pair them with boy shorts or classic bikini bottoms for a comfortable and sexy style. The top is yours for just $70 or $74 for a D-cup size. Love it!

Shapely One-Pieces
This swimsuit is on sale for $15 with a special coupon code “free25” for a limited time. It's in a softer black which will complement your skin tone more easily, and there's a slimming waist panel adorned in subtle metal studs.

The Classic Bikini
Are you into Brazilian style bikinis and string-tie styles? If so, you definitely need to check out the triangle top version on Bella Beachwear. This beachy floral type is just $29.95 and has a rather unique print. Try mix-and-matching with a solid bottom to draw attention upwards for those with a more pear-shaped figure.

Reversible Swimsuits
This reversible halter top from Roxy is available in teen sizes, but if you're graced with a smaller or petite frame, try it out. Switch from a slightly '70s print version to a solid brown in a flash. Buy the Roxy Rio Grande bikini here.

Plus Size Suits
I found a suit that ranges from size 26 up to 34 for women who love the beach but hate modesty skirts. This suit from Swimsuits for All by Beach Scene has an interesting sash tie feature to define curves without being too fussy. $39.98 is an excellent deal for a plus-size swimsuit in a stylish cut, so go for it.

Maternity Swimsuits
A Pea in the Pod swimsuits may be a little harder on the wallet than other choices, but to get specialty swimwear that must look right, you'll want to spend a little extra. My favorite suit was the Keyhole One Piece for $145. You can find it in a cool geometric pattern with skinny little halter ties. What a way to add to your beach confidence while pregnant!
