Behold! Trousers That Make You Look Thin

Not Your Daughter's Jeans

_5599670

Skinny Stretch
I even chose them in white-- that's how confident I am that they will look awesome! Wow, these Not Your Daughter's Jeans are no joke... slimming, classic, and super-cute to boot. Despite what the critics say, everyone should have a pair of white jeans stowed away for special occasions, just in case you head off on vacation or confront sweltering heat and need to look impossibly fresh. Really! These jeans feature a slimming criss-cross tummy and a rear lift.

Skinny Jeans

Daywash Skinny Brand Jeans
These skinny jeans have a carefully engineered shape to make the center of those thighs score a little extra Inner Thigh Clearance and grab a few extra inches of behind lift. From what I understand, these jeans don't use the usual panels and instead rely on design details to do most of the slimming via optical illusion.

Levis 512 Perfectly Slimming

(Dark Indogo Wash Perfectly Slimming Jeans)
These Levis 512 jeans are a little more refined for those of us who want more mature jean styles. You can find them in lighter washes as well as your usual dark rinses, my personal favorite. Be sure to shop around for the best deals if you like to save on your denim! I found pairs for around $25 in a quick search.

Spanx Fashion Pants

(Bod-a-Bing Pants, $72.00)
I do love my Spanx, and these are no exception. These pants incorporate the cool stretchiness that makes Spanx so wonderful as well as a nice fit to go along with longer tops, perhaps some jeweled sandals, and a neckerchief. And a straw hat! But I digress; these trousers are very impressive for semi-casual fashions. If you hate to spend money on foundation Spanx because nobody is going to see them, this is a good compromise.

Guide to Wide-Legged Trousers

It can be difficult to find the right pair of wide-legged trousers for your body type, especially if you've lived in the skinny ones for the past two seasons. Find out about wearing the best pair of wide-legged trousers for your shape here!

Choose your body type, or one that's closest to yours, from the list below to read up on wide-legged trousers for you.

Petite
Avoid wide-legged trousers with cuffs, and if you're a slimmer petite size, you can try a wide-legged trouser with a little extra interest. Go for a pair with some nautical flair such as a front button placket or front patch pockets.

Are you a little larger in the hip but a petite size in terms of length and proportion? Your wide-legged trousers should have slim invisible side pockets and should come off of the hip and continue down the legs in one smooth line. Don't be afraid to add a little extra height with trendy wedge heels and a bag that won't weigh you down, like a clutch style.

Tall
Experiment! The worse thing you can do when choosing a wide-legged pair of trousers is get a pair that's too short. Head to J. Crew for longer wide-legged styles. You can pull off a slightly wider or more exaggerated trouser style than some other body types. Experiment with colors in your wide-legged trousers like lemon yellow or a subtle stripe.

Triangle
Wide-legged trousers can help to balance out your shoulders. Simply choose a darker top or one in a slimmer shape to pair with wide-legged trousers. Don't be afraid of lighter trousers, such as those in cream or white.

Apple
Apple shapes will benefit from a slightly higher waisted style with a wider waistband and less prominent pockets.

Pear
Are you larger on the bottom than on the top? Balance your shape with a darker pair of wide-legged trousers and a comfortable tunic-style shirt. To lighten up the effect of your dark trousers, wear fun slip-on heels in a floral print.

Plus-Size
Just because you wear a size 14 and up doesn't mean you can't wear a pair of wide-legged trousers with panache. In fact, wide-legged trousers will flatter you more than many other styles. Find yours with a slightly wider waistband for comfort and to avoid the dreaded "muffin top" effect. Smooth your waist further with a low-slung belt. I found several nice ones at Gap.

Have fun shopping!
