Getting the Right Fit
1. Is the hem too long? If you're wearing jeans, there is special denim tape that you can use to put your jeans at the proper length. Simply take your jeans and fold them up into themselves until they are the proper length. Mark the spot where the inner fold comes up to with a safety pin, and then use the tape inside to affix the hem.
2. Shirt is too short. If your shirt is a few inches too short, in the world of tailoring, too short is much worse than too long, but you can still wear tanks underneath your top in the same color. If you find something that will camouflage the ride-up, then you are ready to go.
3. Pants with no belt loops falling down. Do you hate pants with no belt loops, or is it just me? Yuck! I hate not being able to wear a pair of pants with a belt like I want, because some pants stretch during the day, and you don't know quite how to remedy that. I like to layer a super long camisole with a lot of stretch over the waistband and upper hips of my jeans to keep them where the below.
4. Sleeves too long. If you have a tailored shirt with too-long sleeves, you can roll them up to the elbow and wear them on the weekend with a vest or another layer. If you don't like white, tailored shirts when you're not at work, why not just dye it yourself? It's easier than you think to grab a package of RIT dye and tint your shirt light purple!
5. Too-loose skirt. Is your skirt just a tiny bit loose in the waist? Take a safety pin and then use it to pin your skirt to your slip from the inside. Wear a waspie and pull that a few inches down over the waistband, and then layer a tunic-length top over to hide your work. It's a quick-and-dirty fix, but it's great!
